To screen record on a Mac, you can use the built-in tool called “QuickTime Player” or the newer “Screenshot” app. Here’s how to use both methods:
Using QuickTime Player:
- Open QuickTime Player. You can find it in the Applications folder or by using Spotlight search (Command + Space and type “QuickTime Player”).
- In the menu bar, click on “File” and then select “New Screen Recording.”
- A small recording window will appear. Click on the small arrow next to the record button to adjust settings such as microphone input and mouse clicks.
- Click the red record button to start recording. You can either click anywhere on the screen to record the entire screen or click and drag to select a specific portion of the screen to record.
- Once you’re finished recording, click the stop button in the menu bar or press Command + Control + Esc.
- Save your recording by clicking “File” and then “Save” or use the keyboard shortcut Command + S.
Using Screenshot App:
- Press Command + Shift + 5 to open the Screenshot app.
- A small control panel will appear at the bottom of the screen. You can choose to record the entire screen or a selected portion by clicking on the appropriate button.
- Click the “Options” button to adjust settings such as microphone input and where to save the recording.
- Click the record button (which looks like a solid circle) to start recording.
- Once you’re finished recording, click the stop button in the menu bar or press Command + Control + Esc.
- The recording will automatically be saved to your desktop unless you specified a different location in the options.
